The Polynesian Cultural Center's World Fire Knife Dance Competition is also part of a larger high school Samoan arts program called the We Are Samoa Festival that includes competitions in traditional customs and skills as well as songs and dances— such as speech making (lauga), coconut-leaf basket weaving, coconut husking and firemaking.
